WCWM has a vision for our community to come together in various ways and reactivating the power of bartering is one of those ways. While bartering is one of the oldest forms of exchange, and it has also been a practice that we use consciously and unconsciously many times, WCWM recognizes the power of direct exchanges from person to person.
There are some challenges in bartering such as finding a person who may need your products and services and who also has produces and services that you need. Additionally, it is something that most times needs to be done with people you know or trust. However, it is a challenge worth wild as we work together to “Build Amalgamations Relationships Trust Economics and Resources” and “cut the middle man out” every chance we can.
Bartering is a way of honoring each other and our individual usefulness and valuable offerings we have as power human beings in community. While bartering is not always possible, when it is possible we encourage our community to practice and promote bartering as much as we can.
In today’s economy, it is getting more and more challenging to match the cost of living with a living wage/earned income. Inflation is continuously on the rise. The rich is getting richer and the poor is getting poorer. Bartering a remedy to use in conjunction with our conscious efforts to “Put Your Money Where Your Melanin Is” and also to divest from capitalism, white supremacy, and toxic destructive practices of overconsumption and pollutions to the Earth and its inhabitants.
Energetically, bartering can be a benefit with healing our community’s disconnection and trust issues. It is about bringing us back to our roots of human interaction, unity building, accountability, and valuing each other.
